About Us

From the name of the university - the Russian Christian Academy for the Humanities - it becomes clear that here you can get a higher education in the field of the humanities, focused on Christian spirituality.

Our university is one of the first non-state universities in Russia and St. Petersburg. Founded back in 1989, it has gone from an institute to an academy, becoming the first non-state university in St. Petersburg to achieve an increase in its accreditation status. The Academy is a leading university in its field with sufficient scientific potential. RKhGA is known in Russia due to its wide publishing activities. Over the years of its existence, it has entered the scientific and publishing elite of Russia.

The founders and founders of the academy - the Russian Academy of Education, St. Petersburg Theological Academy, the Institute of Russian Literature (Pushkin House) of the Russian Academy of Sciences - creating a university, they intended to synthesize education, the humanities and Christian spirituality. On these "three pillars" is training at the RCAH.

Russian and European cultures have a common spiritual source - Christianity. A feature of studying at the Academy is the recognition of the history and foundations of Christianity as the most important component of humanitarian education. However, this does not mean at all that only Christians can study or teach at the RCAH. The exception is the department of theology, where people come with a certain spiritual orientation. The goal of the rest of the university is to offer education that meets the spiritual and cultural traditions of multinational Russia. And the name "Christian", as well as "Russian", symbolizes the ideological component of the pedagogical concept of the Academy.
