Shmelev’s creativity in the context of orthodox mystical theology traditions

Annotation

The article examines the peculiarities of the influence of the Eastern Christian mystical tradition on the formation of the worldview and value system of the heroes of I. S. Shmelev. Particular attention is paid to the ideas of spiritual guidance, prayer and absolute love. The article also discusses the functional use of the transpersonal experience of Syrian mystics in everyday life on the example of such works as “The Summer of the Lord”, “Praying”, “The Ways of Heaven” and the essay “Old Valaam”.
