Annotation

Adamic language — the object of analysis — is available to the researcher in the form of evidence from the Book of Genesis, references in the texts of culture, hypotheses. Most sources speak about its perfection. The authors of the article consider Adam’s language as a theoretical construct and admit doubts about its universality. The article presents the system of assumptions about the ontological nature, function, semiotic mechanism and representative potential of the «first’’ sign system. Despite the impossibility of direct verification of our results, they are evaluated in the discourses of cognitive semiotics and theoretical linguistics. It is shown that the representative possibilities of the Adamic language (single-variant referent substitution as the only true nomination) would not allow the development of human thinking. Representation of the world without taking into account the discourse of speech and the pragmatics of the subject does not imply the development of culture, closes the possibility of creating coreferential texts — multiple pictures of the world. Our assumptions do not cancel out the conceptual value of the Adamic language for contemporary culture.

Keywords

Adamic language, representation, nomination, semantically closed language.
