The article analyzes the unfinished fundamental work of V. V. Zenkovsky Fundamentals of Christian Philosophy. It attempted to build a philosophical system based on traditional Eastern Christian theology, which has always emphasized the priority of ascetic practice over rational understanding of its results. The legitimacy of considering the ontological and epistemological ideas of Zenkovsky in line with the Palamite concept, which is affirmed in the «church mind» as «Orthodox energetism» (S. S. Khoruzhy). It is stated that history, according to the worldview of Zenkovsky, can only make sense from an eschatological perspective. This perspective presupposes not only acts of God, but also acts of transcendence on the part of man. At the same time, a person synergistically joins the «other being» and metaphysically transforms the world.
