Annotation

The article compares the Russian philosophy with Western European philosophical thought on the philosophical and historical themes of understanding the meaning and prospects of civilizational progress. In this regard, the fundamental contrast between Russian Messianism, in fact, optimism in the form of the Russian idea as a new aspect of the Christian doctrine of apocatastasis, the self-restoration of humanity to eternal life, and the leading worldview, the general “spirit” of pessimism in European philosophy from apocalyptic ideas about the inevitable collapse of human history, is noted.
