A survey of the work of the XVIth meeting of the seminar “Gods, people and worlds in the past and the present” (the Dostoevsky Academy, 27th may 2023)

Annotation

On 24th–27th May 2023, the Russian Academy for the Humanities (RChAH, Dostoevsky Academy) held the 23rd Holy Trinity annual international academic readings. On 27th May, the Conference gave the historical and cultural seminar entitled “Gods, people and worlds in the past and the present – XVI”. This sketch contains a brief account of the work at this seminar, which included twelve reports on various topics of history and historiography, philosophy and philology, cultural studies and art. Under discussion were eternal and topical issues of Ancient and Russian classics up to European Poststructuralism, decolonization and fantasy. The Conference brought together researchers from universities of St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region, as well as scholars from Saratov and Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan).
