Psychological background for the idea of apocatastasis to return

Annotation

The article is devoted to the consideration of the internal foundations of revisionism of the doctrine of apocatastasis, rejected by the 5th Ecumenical Council of 553. The article fixes the tendency to justify this teaching in the West and East on new grounds. They are not so much of theological and philosophical nature but characterize the changed paradigm of Christian thought. The author draws attention to the sociological component revealing the same tendencies, highlights the age and gender characteristics of the perception of the hope of the eternal salvation of all. This also testifies to a profound worldview shift, which is the basis for the inconsistent rehabilitation of apocatastasis by theologians of different confessions in the XX-XXI centuries.
