Diotima of Mantineia: towards the question of historical existence and philosophical heritage
Annotation
The main purpose of the paper is to compare the sets of arguments pro et contra the possible historical existence of Diotima of Mantinea. It is also planned to supplement the arguments that have now become classic in literature (the argument from the feminization of philosophy by Plato; the argument from the irony of Socrates; the argument from silence, etc.) and objections (the argument from the historicity of Socrates; the argument from Thucydides; the modal argument) pro et contra her historical existence with some arguments and objections from a textological, historical and Literature Studies perspectives.
