The concept of human person in the religious philosophical anthropology of Hans Urs von Balthasar

Annotation

The article is dedicated to work of a Swiss theologian H. U. von Balthasar, who enriches key theological notions with a new meaning through creative dialogue with remarkable phenomena of the world culture. The author presents an overview of the historical genealogy of the concept of «person», originating in the context of the theological debates during IV–V centuries and further developed in philosophy and other fields of humanities. The article focuses on examination of this concept in the contexts of the theological drama approach, developed by Balthasar, in the framework of which the key categories of the art of drama, such as protagonist, role, action, dialogue, are refilled with a theological content, and a new approach to the interpretation of the concept of human person is developed.
