Annotation

The article contains philosophical analysis of religious justification of human happiness in a God-ruled world in book of Job. The author shows that the book contains two fundamentally different views on the possession of happiness. One of them is represented by the doctrine of retribution and is a fundamental element of the book’s plot. From it comes the concept of Divine action as a reaction to the morality of a human action, and hence the limitations of God in His actions. As a refutation of the doctrine of retribution, a second view of happiness emerges from the assertion of divine omnipotence. It is realized through the practical demonstration of Divine deeds and His speech. This position assumes absolute freedom of God, excludes anthropocentrism and moralism inherent in the doctrine of retribution. The author demonstrates the specificity of the content of happiness in Job’s judgments and connects the solution of the problems of theodicy with it.
