“The ethical state” of Giovanni Gentile, “The ethical liberalism” of Benedetto Croce and the “Empire” of Julius Evola

Annotation

This article reviews the political philosophy of Giovanni Gentile and Benedetto Croce, outlining their essential concepts of ethical state and ethical liberalism. However, while their ideas were entrenched as a part of academic mainstream in their lifetime, they were criticized by some other notable Italian thinkers of the XXth century, e. g. Julius Evola.
