Annotation

On the territory of the Russian Federation, where Eastern Christianity (Orthodoxy) is the dominant religion, scientific literature on Western European (Catholic) topics is rare, and therefore each book on this issue is of scientific interest. The present review is to study the new monograph «“Graduale Romanum” of 1974. Festive hymns of the Mass: from the Middle Ages to the Modern Age. Translation, historical and cultural interpretation and liturgical understanding of sacred texts. — Volume 1. From Advent to Pentecost. on the topic of Catholic worship by the example of an interdisciplinary study of the canonical collection of hymns. This review highlights the relevance and significance of the book on the issues of translating liturgical texts from «Graduale Romanum» in terms of a scientific approach. This review assumes an overview of the book`s structure, its practical component and significance for science at the present time.
