Family axiology: between tradition and archaic

Annotation

In this article, the author explores issues related to the concept of traditional family values in the context of changes occurring both in society as a whole and in the religious culture of everyday life. The meanings of terms describing family values and their specificity are discussed, the terms “tradition” and “archaic” are analyzed with an emphasis on distortions occurring at the level of public consciousness and terminology. The author emphasizes that the term “tradition” should not be identified with “habit” and emphasizes that traditional values form moral guidelines and ideals underlying family relationships. An approach to understanding values through the prism of psychological specification and socio- cultural preferences is proposed. The author emphasizes that various parareligious marginal communities that claim to restore traditional morality actually form a cultural space of archaism. The problem of divorce is critically examined and the idea of the indissolubility of marriage is analyzed in the context of modern realities and church teaching. In conclusion, the work substantiates the need to take into account the cultural and historical context when developing approaches to strengthening traditional moral norms in modern society
