The confusion of time and the music of eternity (A. Hrzhanovsky’s animated film “the nose, or the conspiracy of the ‘wrong’ ”)
Annotation
The article discusses the plot and compositional features of A. Y. Khrzhanovsky’s animated film “The Nose, or the Conspiracy of the ‘wrong‘”, premiered in 2020. Actualizing the Gogol tradition, Hrzhanovsky combines in his tape the stories of Major Kovalev, Dmitry Shostakovich, and Mikhail Bulgakov, behind which the dramatic history of the relationship between artists and power is read. Like Gogol’s “Nose” for D. Shostakovich, for Hrzhanovsky, who co-authored with “his” artists, his tape is an autobiographical statement.
