The task of the article is to trace the peculiarities of creating images of the main female heroines in the stories of two famous writers A. Tolstoy “Emigrants” and S. Dovlatov “The Foreigner (Inostranka)” with the help of intertext. Russian Russian emigration’s general context, although separated by decades, makes it possible to identify the formative literary constants of Russian literature in emigration. In addition to the general thematic basis — the world of Russian emigrants of the first (A. Tolstoy) and the third (S. Dovlatov), the main connecting thread between the two works, according to the author of the article, becomes the interext, namely intertextual links with the novel by F. Dostoevsky “The Idiot”, that is, classical Russian literature.
