The union of soviet artists and the practical side of artistic life in the USSR

Annotation

In 1932, the Union of Artists of the USSR (Union of Artists of the USSR) became an organization that unites and directs the creative activity of Soviet artists in the spirit of socialist realism, as the main and universal creative method, which included local organizations of various levels, including the Unions of Artists of Moscow and Leningrad who had the rights of republican organizations. The general management of local branches and their relationship was carried out by the elected Board of the Union of Artists of the USSR. They were closely connected with the state and financed largely from the state budget. Thus, the creation of the Union of Artists of the USSR contributed to the establishment of a state monopoly in the field of art, which radically transformed the domestic art market, turning it into an established system of centralized payment for created works of art.
